The Return of Yoga

I have a new yoga studio.

And for those of you in the know, it requires no queuing in stairwells or wafting whiffs of Thai food during your asanas.

It's $10 a class and you can register online up to 30 minutes in advance.

Any guesses?

Demon Days

There's a weird heaviness in the air lately, am I right?

It's not only the 9/11 anniversary thing,  the almost-earthquake or the almost-hurricane.  There's just a generally on-edge feeling in New York right now.  Breakups.  Bad Indian food.  Humidity.

For me, the clincher was bidding farewell to my androgynous Icelandic friends, who have been with me at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza since early spring.

Walking through the plaza early one morning this week, I stumbled upon their ignominious departure:

A note to the artist, if she ever reads this:

We have really enjoyed watching these sculptures serve their fascinating purpose all summer.  From posing with tourists and children to letting office lunchers literally nap on their shoulders, to being scribbled on, dressed in hats and scarves and even - in one case - completely knocked over, these guys truly held up that mirror.

So, from New York and its beautiful, messy and sometimes very sad people: thanks!

Wise Ideas for Small Spaces

I've made changes! You're going to love them. Hope these ideas help New Yorkers looking for some breathing room.

Jack-of-all trades closet.

I installed this (heavy) pot rack all by myself! A great space saver.

Poor hobo Sasha. Somehow, she loves this box.

Cheap IKEA table minus one leaf = perfect against walls.

Tomato can herbs get the job done. Also, kinda cute.

Please oh please leave me comments with other ideas.
